About

Updated

Breathe Cadence is a small independent project: a set of free breathing timers that run in your browser. No account, nothing to pay, no app store. After your first visit the timers also work offline, and you can install the site to your home screen like an app.

What the site is

Every technique here comes with a working timer. A dot goes once around a circle per cycle, each phase gets its own arc, and a tone marks every change of phase, so you can keep the pace with your eyes closed. The written part of a page describes the pattern and how to do it.

What the site is not

It is not a health publication, and nothing here is medical advice. We make no claims about what a breathing pattern will do for you. Where a page refers to research, it links to the primary source, and where a technique carries a risk, the warnings sit next to the instructions rather than in a footnote. Our editorial policy spells out both rules.

Who runs it

Breathe Cadence is built and maintained by a small independent team. The site has no medical reviewer, and it does not pretend to have one. That is exactly why it stays a utility: a timer that keeps time, and text that describes a pattern rather than promising an outcome.

How it works

The timers are written from scratch and run entirely in your browser. The sounds are generated on your device rather than loaded as audio files, and the timing follows the browser’s own audio clock, so the pace does not drift. When you start a session, the site records the technique, its pattern and the number of cycles set as the goal. When you finish one, it records the technique and pattern, how long the session ran and how many cycles you completed. Nothing in either record points back to you. The privacy policy says what that means in practice.
